AN EVIL UNDER THE SUN.
I see an evil under the sun. Politicians stay few years in office and they are given a monthly allowance that worth more than a civil servant yearly salary. Year in year out, this same politicians keep lying and making decisions that are anti people and yet when election time comes, their party will put their heads together and pull out some beautiful lies (in the name of plans) which they will never get to follow up and surprisingly people will still rally round and vote them into office. What an evil!
Why do we keep repeating the same people who couldn’t deliver when they had opportunity? Why should a few group of politicians keep deceiving the people to get voted into office and yet when they get there, they seem to forget about all the beautiful promises they made during the campaign period? Why are people so blind to vote in this some politicians who only speak up or stand up for what is right during campaign period?
How difficult is it for politicians to make an impact in government? How many years do politicians need to make tangible change in the society? While thinking about all these questions, I heard a voice saying to me, “we are more than the politicians, and since politics is a game of number; we can actually use our numbers to keep this lying folks out of office”. To the Political minds, this might not sound correct but I think it’s high time we do away with all this politicians who gamble for vote and when they get into office, they seem to forget about everything they promised.
I also think it high time, we all wake up from our slumber. Whoever told that politics is a dirty game therefore we should leave it to the politicians was actually wrong. We all have a right to determine who governs us. Let’s all get involve by ensuring that we register and also follow through the process of voting. If we all get involve, then we will be able to take power off the hands of all this lying politicians.
But if we all stay back and refuse to vote or join the electoral process, then we’ll end up falling into the hands of this politicians who will never keep to their promises. As Plato once said, “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you will end up being governed by your inferiors.” But in addition you could also find yourself being governed by those who do not share your basic comprehension of moral principles and values. Evil prevail when good people sit back and do nothing. Ensure you register…ensure you vote wisely! God bless you all.
