One of the most rewarding decisions a believer can make after his salvation experience is to become an intimate friend of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is an indispensable companion in the journey of every believer that desires to succeed in life, ministry, and other endeavours. He is the Third Person in the Trinity and the Chief Executive of the Godhead on earth today. He is called the Spirit of the Father, the Spirit of Christ, the Power of the Highest, the Spirit of Pentecost, and so on.
Jesus said that whosoever does not have His Spirit is not of Him. Without the Holy Spirit, a believer can do nothing or achieve nothing. In Zechariah 6:4, the Bible says, ‘It is not by power nor by might but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” Similarly, Romans 8:6 says, “As many as are led the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” The Father gives the Holy Spirit to believers to play some significant roles in their lives. The first of these is to endue them with power from on high. This is the supernatural ability to do the extraordinary and fulfill their divine assignments. You need the Holy Spirit because He is the Comforter, Counsellor, Advocate, Guide, Intercessor, Helper, Strengthener, and Standby for every true believer. He is also the illuminator, spiritual dynamo, teacher, and senior partner to every child of God. Beloved, for you to experience and enjoy the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the areas I have mentioned, you must deliberately have a closer walk with Him and become His close friend. Here are steps you can take to achieve that all-important goal: (1) Invite Him in• (Romans 8:9-11) (2) Read and meditate on the Scripture (John 16:13); (3) Pray and ask for guidance (John 14:26). (4) Listen and obey (1 Kings 19:12); (5)—Spend quality time—Acts 13:2 (6) Be still and quiet—Psalm 46:10; (7) Yield and surrender; Romans 12:1-2; (8) Seek spiritual gifts; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; (9) Practise spiritual disciplines; Matthew 6:16-18 (10) Trust and rely on Him-John 15:26–27.
These steps will help to deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit. That is a great and worthwhile achievement you should record this year.
