9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:
Elijah the Tishbite appeared in Israel with a clear mission: to execute God’s judgment against an ungodly, idolatrous and pervert leadership and turn the hearts of the entire citizenry in Israel back to the living God. His assignment brought him in confrontation with the powers that be (Ahab and Jezebel), the prophets of Asherah and the prophets of Baal. Though Elijah had this formidable opposition, he faced his task with courage and unbroken focus. He was God’s partner, battle axe and weapon of war. Note that there were other prophets who knew about the activities of Jezebel and her false prophets but didn’t have the fire power to confront the evil. The supposed power houses of God were overtaken by fear, kept in a cave and fed with bread and water by Obadiah, Ahab’s servant. Elijah, on the other hand, did not love his life unto death. He took the risk of representing God by confronting and overcoming idolatry and the powers behind it.
What made Elijah bold and successful? First, he was a man of prayer and a carrier of God’s presence. One great feature of a man who spends quality time with God in prayer is the unusual power and authority they demonstrate in their ministry. Elijah was dramatic in this regard when he said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” That was the beginning of the end of idolatry and Jezebel’s evil dominance in the land. Israel did not see rain or dew for three and a half years!
When Elijah prayed and fire fell on mount Carmel, all Israel acknowledged the sovereignty of Jehovah and turned back to God. All Baal prophets were killed at his command. Just as Jesus earned the name above all names by partnering with the Father in the plan of redemption, Elijah’s reward for turning the heart of Israel back to God was the VIP treatment heaven gave him by sparing him from death and transporting him to heaven in a chariot of fire. Elijah fulfilled his ministry; heaven was pleased with him. Beloved, what is your ministry? Do it to please the Lord and make sure you finish well. Your reward will be ear-tingling!
PRAYER POINTS:

- My Father, give me the grace to finish my divine assignment so well as to win your special compensation on earth and in heaven, in the name of Jesus.
- Father, make me Your battle axe and weapon of war, in the name of Jesus.
- O God, make me a man of great faith like Elijah, in the name of Jesus.

- O God, give me unusual power and authority to win nations for You, in the name of Jesus.
- O God, use me to end idolatry in my family and nation, in the name of Jesus.
- My Father, use me to end apostasy and turn men back to You, in the name of Jesus.
- My Father, make me a candidate of divine VIP treatment, in the name of Jesus.
