BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 16:1-18:15; Matthew 6:1-24; Psalm 7:1-17; Proverbs 2:1-6

John 11:32-45 (KJV) Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 33 When Jesus, therefore, saw her weeping and the Jews also weeping, which came with her, he groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? 38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh, for he hath been dead four days. 40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always, but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. 43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. 45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
As you journey with unwavering and violent faith in God this year, you shall record irrevocable victory day by day, in the name of Jesus.

One of Jesus’ greatest admonitions to us (believers) is to have faith in God (John 14:1). All through His earthly ministry, He was always commending and rewarding faith just as He condemned and rebuked faithless people. Jesus knew that faith is the key that grants access to the great things that His Father has for us. We cannot please God or walk successfully and profitably with Him without faith. We cannot receive something worthwhile from Him and experience fulfilment in life without faith.

On one occasion, in the face of a daunting and seemingly insurmountable challenge, He told Martha, the sister of Lazarus, “If thou can believe, thou shall see the glory of God.” What Jesus meant was that though the facts about Lazarus’ situation were clear, having faith in the God of all possibilities could make a difference and turn the situation around. FAITH IS THE VICTORY (1)

The first fact was that Lazarus had been certified dead. In fact, he died four days earlier. The second fact was that his decomposing body was already smelling. The third fact was that Jesus arrived later than they expected. As far as Lazarus’ sisters were concerned, the Royal Master would have healed him if He had arrived before Lazarus died, no matter the type of ailment plaguing him or the extent it might have gone. They had no clue that Jesus, the Resurrection and Life, could raise the dead. In God’s Kingdom the truth is what counts, not the fact. The truth here is that how long Lazarus had been dead, the decomposing state of his corpse and Jesus not arriving before Lazarus gave up the ghost were inconsequential. The overruling power and surpassing authority of the Miracle Worker would change everything, provided Lazarus’ sister would demonstrate faith in God. That faith will bring God into the precarious and terrible situation, turn it around, give her a miracle of bringing her brother back to life, a manifestation of God’s glory and make their family evidence and living testimony of God’s sovereignty and power.

Beloved, no matter what you are passing through today, no matter the season of life you are in (good or bad), my charge to you is to have faith in God.
