KNOWLEDGE PUFFS UP – PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE
MEMORISE: Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. – 1 Corinthians 8:1
READ: 1 Corinthians 8:1-2
- Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
- And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
MESSAGE:
When I was working as a senior lecturer at the university, it was quite noticeable that professors and lecturers always wanted to prove to one another that they were more knowledgeable than their peers. Today, the internet has made every ‘tom, dick and harry’ seem like a master and custodian of knowledge or information. It is dangerous for young people to think that ‘they have arrived,’ that is, they have a lot of knowledge, as this might prevent them from aspiring to acquire more knowledge in their field.
My dear child, if you have vast knowledge in many areas, it’s impressive. However, it will be wise to maintain a learner’s disposition in conversations rather than trying to win all arguments or give the best opinions. At my age, I still write down lessons that I learn from other pastors’ sermons because I am still striving to know God more. Please be humble and learn from others.
KEY POINT, We know and understand in parts. Be open to learning every day.

And Higher Ev’ry Day,
And Wiser, Blessed, Lord,
In Thy Precious, Holy WorD.
2 Deeper, Deeper! Blessed Holy Spirit,
Take Me Deeper Still,
Till My Life Is Wholly Lost In Jesus,
And His Perfect Will. [Refrain]
3 Deeper, Deeper! Tho’ It Cost Hard Trials,
Deeper Let Me Go!
Rooted In The Holy Love Of Jesus,
Let Me Fruitful Grow. [Refrain]

Till All Conflict Past,
Finds Me Conqu’ror, And In His Own Image
Perfected At Last. [Refrain]
