When a person is born again, it is a whole new person — a new kind of being without a past (2 Corinthians 5:17). However, although his mind has been born again, unhealthy thoughts can still occur to him. This is because his intelligence has not yet been renewed. It is his responsibility to renew his mind and his mind with the Word of God.

Someone has rightly said that you may not be able to stop a bird from flying overhead, but you can certainly prevent it from perching on it. Although sometimes some negative thoughts and ideas that you had before you were born again come to mind, you should refuse to dwell on them. You must meditate on the Word daily. Nourish your mind and your mind with the Word.

When your mind is renovated with the Word, you will think of things that are true, honorable, righteous, pure, kind, good approval, righteous, excellent, and worthy of praise (Philippians 4: 8). It is a call to think on the Word, for nothing can be more excellent and worthy of praise, true, honorable, righteous, pure, lovable, and worthy of approval than the Word of God.

So make a decision to meditate on the Word, not just today, but every day. Through meditation, the Word passes through your intelligence to your spirit, and your mind is renewed. The Bible says that a man is like the thoughts of his soul (Proverbs 23: 7). Your life will always go in the direction of your thought because your thought inspires your speech, which in turn generates your actions. So when your mind is renewed with the Word, your state of mind will be transformed and you will walk in God’s will and purpose for your life.
