TOPIC: The Consistency of Jesus Christ
Opening Scripture:
Hebrews 13:7–8 (KJV)
“Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.”
Today’s Message:
What we read in the opening scripture is profound. There’s a strong connection between verses 7 and 8—a connection that many Bible translators may have missed due to the lack of punctuation in the original Greek text. When read in context, both verses emphasize the consistency of the Lord Jesus Christ. Verse 8, which says “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever,”.
The Holy Spirit is pointing out that the spiritual leaders who brought us the Word of God demonstrated a lifestyle that reflected Jesus’ power and consistency. Their lives proved that Jesus is faithful, trustworthy, and unchanging. The results of their faith revealed the same Jesus who worked miracles in the past, working in their present. Therefore, the instruction is clear: imitate their faith, considering the outcome of their lives. Their experiences are proof of Jesus’ consistency—His unchanging nature through time.

This aligns perfectly with what James 1:17 says about God: “The Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” There is no inconsistency or unpredictability in Him. Malachi 3:6 reinforces this: “For I am the LORD, I change not.” No matter where you are in life or what your need is today, know this—Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Those who came before us testified of His faithfulness and the reliability of His Word. We have the same testimony today—Jesus never fails. Hallelujah!
Prayer:
Dear Father, thank you for the consistency of your Word and the faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. My life is a revelation of His unchanging nature—His glory, power, and love—in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
