USE THE NAME OF JESUS AS AN INSTRUMENT BY REV. DR. CHRIS OYAKHILOME.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).
When God gave Jesus a Name above every name, He vested all authority in that Name. He passed it into law in heaven, on earth and under the earth; that at the Name of Jesus, every knee should bow! This is the Name we’ve been given the power of attorney to use as an instrument.
Some of God’s children haven’t understood how to use the Name of Jesus as an instrument, and this is the reason for the defeat, failure and lack they experience in their lives. If someone comes to you with a request in the name of his boss—an authority figure you recognize—you’ll oblige him, not because of who he is as a messenger, but because of the respect you have for the one in whose name he comes. Even if you don’t like the messenger’s face or his attitude, your respect for his boss will still compel you to grant his request.
It’s like receiving a document with the authentic seal or signature of someone of high authority. You respond favourably to that document immediately you receive it. That’s because you recognize the power and authority of the one whose seal or signature is on it. That seal is an instrument. The Name of Jesus works the same way in the spirit-realm. Peter understood this when he met the cripple at the gate of the temple called Beautiful. That’s why he said to him “…such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk (Acts 3:6). Then he “…took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked…” (Acts 3:7-8).
This wasn’t a prayer; Peter didn’t make a request of God. What he did was to use the Name of Jesus as an instrument. He demanded that the man be restored in the Name of Jesus. When you make demands through the instrumentality of the Name of Jesus, Jesus said He’ll see to it that it happens (John 14:14).
Many people suffer for nothing, because, although they have this mighty and wonderful instrument—the Name of Jesus—they’re not using it. You have the power of attorney to use the Name of Jesus, so use it every day! It’s the key that unlocks every door!
