THE SEVEN BLESSINGS OF UNITY

READ: Psalm 133:1-3 (NKJV)

1. A Song of Ascents. Of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] For brethren to dwell together in unity!
2. [It is] like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.
3. [It is] like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing — Life forevermore.

THE MESSAGE:

The absence of unity in the society has brought uncountable ills and consequences to all fabrics of life today. The Scriptures lay great emphasis on unity and God also testified about what unity can achieve in the building of the tower of Babel (Genesis 11: 6). Jesus taught that a house divided against itself will surely collapse (Matthew 12: 25) and prayed for the unity of His Church (John 17: 11). Apostle Paul enjoins believers to “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (Ephesians 4: 3).

The benefits of unity in today’s text are:

1. Good and pleasant relationships (verse 1),
2. Healing and peace (verse 2),
3. Positive impact on every part or member ofthe body (verse 2),
4. Enables followers to enjoy blessings of leaders (verse 2),
5. Attracts material blessings (verse 3; cf. Genesis 27: 28 – dew of Harmon is like the dew of heaven,
6. Makes God to command His blessings of peace, joy, good health, progress, victory over enemies and prosperity (verse 3; 1 Samuel 11: 7c),
7. Leads to abundant life, both here and hereafter (verse 3).

We must repent today in any way we have been used to bring disunity where we are. We must intentionally seek and pursue things that promote unity in the body of Christ. It is only in Christ that we can find real unity.

PRAYER: We pray for unity in our families, Churches and nation, O Lord!

1. Father in the name of Jesus, thank You for the grace to see this new day in good health and sound mind.
2. Father, thank You for the special gift of life, many wished to see this day, but they couldn’t.
3. Thank You Jesus for being there for us, Your children.
4. Thank You Lord for Your plans for me this month and this year. They are plans of good, not of evil, to give me a successful and good end.
5. Father, please forgive me all my known and unknown sins, and give me power to overcome sin and its lustful desires, in Jesus’ name
6. Father, please, heal our land from all kinds of illnesses, in Jesus’ name
7. Father, please, put an end to the division in the body of Christ, in Jesus’ name.
8. Father, unite Your Church and give us one voice, and help us to pursue things that promote unity, in Jesus’ name.
9. Holy Spirit, help me to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, in Jesus’ name.
10. Father Lord, please, command Your blessings of peace, joy, good health, progress, victory over enemies and prosperity on me and my household as we dwell together in unity, in Jesus’ name
11. LORD, help us to get it right in Nigeria, and let Your perfect will be enforced on us in Jesus’ name.
12. Heavenly Father, let Your peace reign in this country,
13. Whether the devil likes it or not, I will make heaven and receive my eternal rewards in Jesus’ Name.
14. This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
