Hebrews 10:38-39 “Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
LET’S TALK
1 Kings 17-18 gives the account of Prophet Elijah shutting the heavens and preventing rain from failing upon the earth, and after three and a half years, he made the rain return again on the earth by his audacious words of faith before King Ahab and his earnest, heartfelt and continued praying before the Lord (James 5:16-18).
As Elijah prayed on Mount Carmel, he sent his servant to go check if there was any sign of rain. The young man came back and said “there’s nothing.” This happened seven times, yet Elijah didn’t give up; he continued to pray. It was on the seventh occasion that the servant checked and said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” (1 Kings 18:44). That was all Elijah needed to know he had gotten what he desired.
The point to note here is how Elijah prayed fervently without giving up. Even after declaring words of faith before King Ahab, he prayed earnestly until his desire was established. As you pray in faith and declare faith-filled words, learn never to give up. Jesus said men ought always to pray and not to give up (Luke 18:1). The same counsel is what the Spirit of God, through the apostle Paul passes to us in our opening scripture.
You’re not of them that draw back or give up! Your faith is strong and producing results all the time. If you’ve desired something for so long, and it’s been a concern to you, don’t give up! Keep praying earnestly. You may not see the change in a day or in one week, or even in one month, but don’t give up. It doesn’t matter what the case is or how bad it has been; your faith will prevail against it, for your faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
