2 Peter 3:18 NKJV “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”
When a child is born, everything is done for them—feeding, carrying, cleaning, and protecting. The parents don’t expect the infant to walk or reason as an adult. But as the child grows, responsibilities are gradually introduced. Imagine if a 15-year-old still expects to be spoon-fed like a toddler—it would be a tragedy! Growth demands change, and responsibility comes with maturity.

In the same way, when you first received Christ, your prayers were often answered quickly—even when they weren’t prayed correctly. That was God’s way of accommodating your spiritual infancy. Just as parents indulge little children while they’re learning, God gave you room to grow.
But as the Bible says, “For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]!” (Hebrews 5:13 AMPC). The Lord expects you to move beyond milk to strong meat. This means your words, your thoughts, and even the way you pray now carry weight. You’re no longer to pray randomly or emotionally, but with accuracy and understanding.

For example, we don’t pray to Jesus in the Name of Jesus. Scripture teaches us to pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus. When you were born again, you already came to Him; you’re no longer “coming to Him” with every prayer—you now live in Him! These distinctions may not matter to babes in Christ, but they’re of great spiritual significance for the mature.
The Bible further declares, “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14 KJV). As you apply the Word rightly, you’ll rise above the cycle of ups and downs. Instead, your life will move consistently—from faith to faith, grace to grace, and glory to glory. Hallelujah!
Ephesians 4:14-16 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [15] But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: [16] From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Galatians 4:1-2 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; [2] But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
PRAY
Dear Father, thank you for your Word, which is my life and the light by which I see. I’m yielded to its power to transform and build me up in every area, delivering to me my inheritance in Christ. Your glory is revealed in my life, constantly transfiguring and renewing me more and more in knowledge into your image, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
