Topic: True Beauty
Memory Verse:
“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” — 1 Peter 3:4 (KJV)
Bible Reading: 1 Peter 3:3–11 (KJV)
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Devotional Message
It is good to care for your physical appearance, but this must be done in moderation. Many people become so focused on looks that they invest heavily in artificial hair, heavy makeup, cosmetic procedures, and revealing clothing, thinking these things will make them more attractive. However, this mindset is not fitting for believers.
Using excessive cosmetics or undergoing surgery to enhance your appearance suggests dissatisfaction with how God created you. Wearing tight or seductive clothing projects the wrong message. A genuine Christian should understand that true beauty is not outward but comes from within.
Spending excessive time dressing up—perhaps hours each morning—raises questions about your spiritual priorities. Do you have time for prayer and fellowship with God? Colossians 3:2 reminds us to set our affection on things above, not on the things of the earth. According to Matthew 6:21, where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. Some believers are willing to endure risky cosmetic surgeries but cannot make simple sacrifices for the gospel. This shows where their values truly lie.
While it’s not wrong to look good, far more important is cultivating a godly character. Real beauty shines through your attitude, your speech, and your actions. Dorcas (Acts 9:36–42) was known for her good works. When she died, the people around her insisted that she be brought back because her impact was deep and meaningful. If she had only been known for her physical appearance, no one would have gone to such lengths.
When you focus on building your life around God’s Word, your beauty becomes eternal. You become a blessing to others, and your legacy lives on even after you’re gone.
Final Thought:
True beauty is not about appearance—it is about character. Reflect Christ in all you do, and your life will be beautiful both before God and before men.
